How the calculator works

This tool splits your costs into fixed and variable groups, adds them, then computes cost per mile from your monthly miles.

It’s best used with real monthly totals (fuel receipts, insurance statement, truck payment, maintenance receipts, etc.).

If you also add monthly revenue, you’ll see a basic operating profit estimate based only on the costs entered here.

FAQ

Should I include fuel here?
Yes, if you want your full monthly operating cost. If you track fuel separately, you can leave it at $0 here, but keeping everything in one place is usually best.
What counts as fixed vs variable costs?
Fixed costs usually don’t change much with miles (truck payment, insurance, subscriptions). Variable costs tend to rise with miles or activity (fuel, tires, repairs, tolls).
Why does cost per mile show N/A?
Because miles driven is 0. Enter your monthly miles to calculate cost per mile.
